Ballet Photographer Luis Pons Creates a Large Following With Beautiful Images [Video Interview]

Ballet Photographer Luis Pons Creates a Large Following With Beautiful Images [Video Interview]

Ballet Photographer Luis Pons Creates a Large Following With Beautiful Images This is the second time I’ve interviewed Luis Pons. (See first interview here). If the first interview went well, this time it went amazingly well! I found Luis more relaxed and happy to share his successes from the last four months. When we spoke back in September Luis did not have a Facebook fan page yet. I remember a few weeks later he requested friends to help spread his art by sharing and getting a “few” likes. What happened next was short of amazing. He went from a few hundred likes, then five hundred. Soon he was past one thousand and setting 5,000 likes as a goal. Before I knew it he was past 11,000! Since last fall, he’s also had a showing at the 1st Salon Show at Green Point Gallery in Brooklyn. I asked him how he got to show his work with other 99 artists and what was in store for the future for Luis Pons. Enjoy and make sure to watch ’till the end as Luis opens up more and we get to see what motivates him to capture the breathtaking photos. Video from Romy Macias’ YouTube channel. Tarzan Dan Freeman’s Out-of-the-Box Photography [Slide Show]

Tarzan Dan Freeman’s Out-of-the-Box Photography [Slide Show]

Tarzan Dan Freeman’s Out-of-the-Box Photography Think outside-the-box, the rosin box that is. Tarzan Dan Fotography, (yes with an “F”, not “Ph”), is synonymous to edgy. He says he first imagines the photograph in his head and later finds the way to execute it. Dan takes ballet photography to a new level of boldness by placing his subjects in unimaginable scenarios. From the athletic ballerina pulling on a jet airplane to the stunning dancer blocking a bright red door in a wide second position. Tarzan Dan Freeman’s Out-of-the-Box Photography Here’s a taste of Dan’s fun and professional images. Enjoy! Toba Singer, Author of “Fernando Alonso: The Father of Cuban Ballet” [Video Interview]

Toba Singer, Author of “Fernando Alonso: The Father of Cuban Ballet” [Video Interview]

This afternoon I sat down, or rather, I “hung out” with Toba Singer, ballet writer and critic to discuss her latest book, “Fernando Alonso: The Father of Cuban Ballet” Toba was very fortunate to have met Fernando Alonso and interview him about his ballet career as a dancer, but most importantly, as a teacher and co-founder of the Cuban School of Ballet, from which great ballet dancers have emerged, such as Carlos Acosta, Jose Manuel Carreño, Viengsay Valdes, just to name a few. Toba Singer, Author of Fernando Alonso: The Father of Cuban Ballet[Video Interview] I asked Toba how the idea to write about Fernando had come to her, what she learned about Alonso, the teacher and the man. And finally what was her take-away from the entire process. Watch the video below and find out what she had to say about this amazing icon, that was Fernando Alonso in the world of ballet. Video taken from Romy Macias’ YouTube channel. Toba Singer, Author of “Fernando Alonso: The Father of Cuban Ballet” I hope you enjoyed this interview as much as I did. If so, please help us share ballet to more people around the world! Follow the links and images below to read Toba Singer’s books Fernando Alonso: The Father of Cuban Ballet and First Position: A Century of Ballet Artists. Thanks!...
