Chase Johnsey Rehearses Black Swan
Swan Lake is one of a ballerina’s greatest challenges technically as well as for its high degree of artistry.
For a male dancer to interpret this role is something to be admired.
So when I interviewed Chase a few weeks ago where he shared that he had danced Black Swan, I wanted to see him in action.

In this video Chase Johnsey, dancer with the all-male company Les Trocks (Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo), rehearses Black Swan and though the video is a little shaky you can see Chase and his ballet mates dancing the roles of Siegfried and Von Rothbart going through the pas de deux and variations.

Odile is the daughter of Von Rothbart, who is willing to follow in her father’s footsteps. She only appears in the third act, usually dressed in black and magically disguised as Odette in order to help her father trick Siegfried into breaking his vow of love to Odette.
