I finally got the opportunity to interview Dan Freeman, aka Tarzan Dan. I’ve been following his beautiful ballet images of ballerinas on Facebook for quite some time.

One of the images that most amazed me was of a ballerina pulling an airplane. “Where do these ideas come from?” I asked him. You’ll have to watch the video to find out!

Dan strikes the perfect balance between a ballerina’s strength and softness with the dramatic, sometimes raw backdrops he chooses for his subjects.

I was delighted with Dan’s openness to talk about how he got his name “Tarzan”, what got him started photographing ballet dancers and finally his dreams for the future.
