How To Break-in New Pointe Shoes
Breaking-in new pointe shoes is part of the ritual of prepping your shoes for class, rehearsal and performances. So after you’ve sewn on your ribbons and elastics, pancaked your shoes, it’s time to break them in!
Here are three different ways to break-in your new ballet pointe shoes. It’s what I do, but each ballerina has her own way of breaking in her shoes. .
1. Soften your pointe shoes by standing with your heel over the box.
2. Place you pointe shoes in a door frame and pushing the door against the box of your shoe.
3. Roll your pointe shoe box and shank over a ballet barre. You can do one of these techniques, or combine all three. It’s totally up to you.
